Ararat Rural City Council will commence a trial which could pave the way for a biodiesel plant to be established in Ararat in the future. The trial, which council hopes to commence by the end of the month, involves algae being grown to produce oil which is then transformed into biodiesel, a fuel which can be used on its own or blended with traditional diesel.
Biodiesel project a significant step forward
I would like to compliment the Board of Commissioners of Catawba County for the leadership in approving an energy research project with five other agencies to provide funding for the next phase of the Eco-Complex at Blackburn Landfill. The Biodiesel Research and Freon Recovery facility will be the first of its kind in the state, and the project will be housed in a new building that will be a state-of-the-art green building which will exceed the highest standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council for energy efficiency and conservation.
Mekong region develops biodiesel fuel
Some businesses in the Cuu Long (Mekong) River Delta are working on restoring biodiesel production as the domestic market struggles against rapid increases in petrol prices; however, they need the Government’s support.

This is the word coming today from Sustainable Development Technology Canada , as it calls for applications to its $500-million NextGen Biofuels Fund, which supports the establishment of first-of-kind large demonstration-scale facilities for the production of next-generation renewable fuels.
CPO price conducive for biodiesel: Chin
The current crude palm oil price (CPO), which is hovering at RM2,500 per tonne, is conducive to introduce biodiesel in the country, according to Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Peter Chin.
