MASON CITY — Freedom Fuels LLC, the biodiesel plant that opened 18 months ago, has filed for Chapter 11 reorganization and is temporarily shut down.
Ed Dannen, company president, said, “Due to unfavorable worldwide economic conditions, we have had a large customer default on a sales contract.
“The loss incurred as a result of this default has put us into a position where we feel it is in the best interest of all our members, employees and creditors to ask for the court’s protection while we work out a plan to pay our current obligations.”
