TAVARES - A Groveland biodiesel company, hoping to expand its business and create at least 20 high-wage jobs, persuaded Lake County commissioners this week to hire a grant specialist to help it win a technology grant.

The state grant could be worth up to $2.5 million.

Raptor Fabrication & Equipment on State Road 50 asked for $10,000 to pay a consultant who specializes in writing grant applications in the area of renewable-energy technology, company officials said.
