I recently spent two days in Washington, D.C., meeting with elected officials on behalf of hundreds of unemployed Iowa biodiesel workers in an attempt to spur Congress to action. I was stuck in line at the airport for four hours trying to rebook a canceled flight.

Numbed by the monotony of this situation, my mind was drawn to other current events affecting our state and our nation that seem to go on and on with no end in sight.
