Recommended Biodiesel Tests

Testing type and frequency depend on your specific biodiesel application (e.g. distributor or end-user) and the acceptable level of risk. We have provided some guidelines for testing, based upon the BQ-9000 quality standard and our experience in the industry. These guidelines (profiles) are estimates based on typical biodiesel usage - in other words: you should adapt these guidelines to meet your own fuel quality requirements.

Fleet Manager

150 vehicles, 5000 gallons per week, one 5000 gallon fuel storage tank

  * Test should be performed on every load if multiple fuel drops are received per week.

Distributor

One tanker truck, two 10,000 gallon storage tanks (B100, B20) supplied weekly

  Note: If tanker truck is supplying distributor, fuel should be tested before loading into tanker.

** Testing fuel at the customer site, before drop is a service to the customer.

Small Producers & Home-brewers

40 gallon per week processing, one 55 gallon storage tank

Biodiesel User

One private vehicle, weekly refueling with either B100/99 or biodiesel blends.

  Note: When changing suppliers, you may want to run all tests before using the fuel.
